China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) took center stage at COP29 by hosting a groundbreaking multilateral event focused on hydrogen energy. Co-organized with the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA) and the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (FECO), this event marked a milestone as the first hydrogen-themed event co-hosted by a Chinese company at the COP conference. The event unveiled two pivotal reports, showcasing China's strides in green hydrogen technology and emphasizing the importance of global collaboration in fostering a hydrogen-based energy ecosystem. Ma Yongsheng, chairman of Sinopec, delivered a keynote speech underscoring the significance of collective efforts in transitioning towards a hydrogen era in the energy sector. He highlighted the necessity of international cooperation, openness, innovation, and trade facilitation across the hydrogen industry value chain. Sinopec's commitment to carbon neutrality and sustainable development was reiterated, with a focus on forging a green and sustainable future. Sinopec is actively expanding its industry chain for hydrogen production, storage, and utilization, with a particular emphasis on green hydrogen projects. The company has operationalized China's first 20,000-ton photovoltaic green hydrogen demonstration project and has plans for a substantial wind and green hydrogen integration project. Additionally, Sinopec has emerged as a key player in the hydrogen refueling infrastructure, operating numerous refueling stations across China. Overall, Sinopec's leadership in hydrogen innovation and its dedication to international cooperation demonstrate its pivotal role in advancing green technology and contributing to global sustainability efforts.
