Post-COVID-19 projections indicate a rapid growth resurgence for the aviation sector, with a strong impact on climate change. The industry's emissions like CO2, H2O, and others contribute to 4% of human-induced forcing, highlighting the need for mitigation strategies. The aviation sector aims to align with the Paris Agreement objectives by reducing net CO2 emissions and implementing various measures. These measures include policy-based initiatives, technological advancements, and the utilization of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and hydrogen propulsion systems. While focusing primarily on reducing CO2 emissions, initiatives like SAF and hydrogen power also aim to address non-CO2 impacts. Climate-friendly flight planning is identified as an immediate implementable solution to mitigate non-CO2 climate effects. However, challenges exist in transitioning to alternative fuels and technologies due to cost, production intensity, and infrastructure requirements. Despite their environmental benefits, SAF and hydrogen fuels still pose concerns regarding contrail formation and NOx emissions. Addressing the climate impacts of non-CO2 emissions is crucial for the aviation sector's sustainability and to meet the climate targets set by international agreements like the Paris Agreement.
