During a session organized by Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce & Industry, discussions revolved around the aviation industry's broader impact on the economy, emphasizing sustainability and digitalization for future airports. Measures such as rainwater harvesting, solar power utilization, waste management, and EV charging stations were highlighted to reduce carbon footprints. The event also showcased advancements like self-bag drops, AI-based chatbots, drones, and the integration of hydrogen-powered aircraft, with sustainable aviation fuel identified as a significant emerging trend. Furthermore, Hindustan Shipyard's CMD, Commodore Hemant Khatri, shared ambitious plans for Visakhapatnam to emerge as a major shipbuilding hub by 2047, with substantial orders in place and opportunities for MSMEs in green vessel construction.
