Scatec ASA's Egypt Green Hydrogen project, in collaboration with partners such as Fertiglobe, Orascom Construction, The Sovereign Fund of Egypt, and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, achieved a significant milestone in the development of sustainable energy solutions. The project reached this milestone after securing a green ammonia offtake agreement through the H2Global auction in Germany, with Fertiglobe being awarded the agreement. This agreement will span 20 years and was formalized at the Egypt-EU Investment Conference, highlighting the project's international significance. The project involves the development, construction, ownership, and operation of a 100 MW electrolyser facility in Ain Sokhna, Egypt, supported by solar and wind power capacity to produce renewable hydrogen and ammonia. Scatec, as the lead developer, is playing a crucial role in advancing the project and forming key partnerships for its success. The involvement of various financial institutions, including the EBRD, EIB, DEG, BII, and DFC, underscores the financial support and confidence in the project's potential. The project's location in Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) further emphasizes the country's ambition to become a prominent hub for green hydrogen industries.
