PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of Indonesia's State-owned energy company PT Pertamina, is focused on exploring the potential of geologic hydrogen to bolster national energy security. Muharram Jaya Panguriseng, Director of Exploration at PHE, emphasized the significance of becoming an energy producer with sustainable reserves, highlighting hydrogen as a key element for the future. PHE has initiated Geological and Geophysical Studies to assess Geologic Hydrogen Potential in East Sulawesi Ophiolite with the support of Pertamina University and Geological Survey Center. Geologic Hydrogen, a natural form of hydrogen found below the earth's surface, requires expertise in rock geology and underground geology for exploration and utilization. This innovative approach aligns with global efforts in countries like Mali, the United States, Australia, Spain, France, and Brazil that have ventured into natural hydrogen exploration. The Indonesia International Hydrogen Summit 2024 served as a platform to discuss the role of hydrogen in sustainable energy investments, reflecting Indonesia's commitment to advance in clean energy through geologic hydrogen exploration.
