UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, Kanni Wignaraja, visited China to engage in high-level bilateral meetings with senior government officials on advancing sustainable development. During her field visits to Changshu and Suzhou, Wignaraja explored innovative solutions for sustainable development, including hydrogen technology. She visited a hydrogen refueling station, a metal plate manufacturing factory for hydrogen fuel cells, and engaged with the China-Europe Hydrogen Technology Innovation Center. In Suzhou, she discussed sustainable development projects with local officials and visited the SDG Demonstration Project site. In Shanghai, Wignaraja met with government representatives to strengthen UNDP's partnership on development cooperation, focusing on biodiversity finance and advancing SDG progress in China.
