YTL PowerSeraya, a subsidiary of YTL Power International, has announced the commencement of construction on a 600MW hydrogen-ready Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) at its Pulau Seraya Power Station in Singapore. The $800m project, set to be completed by December 2027, marks a significant milestone towards cleaner energy generation and contributes to Singapore's objective of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The project features consortium partners GE Vernova and SEPCOIII, with GE Vernova introducing its first hydrogen-ready CCGT in Singapore. The advanced 9 High Efficiency Air Cooled (9HA.01) gas turbines from GE Vernova are expected to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, aligning with Singapore's transition to low-emission power generation. Initially operating on 50% hydrogen, the plant has the flexibility to upscale to 100% hydrogen in the future. Once operational, it is projected to power around 864,000 homes, supporting the nation's sustainability goals. The groundbreaking ceremony, held during the Singapore International Energy Week, was well-attended by industry experts and dignitaries, including Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, underscoring the commitment to a resilient and sustainable energy landscape in Singapore.
