Advancing Clean Hydrogen Mobility: Inauguration of New HRS in Touraine Vallée de l'Indre Region
Key Ideas
  • The new dual Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HRS) built by Cavendish Hydrogen in the Touraine Vallée de l'Indre region is now operational, marking a significant milestone for clean hydrogen mobility.
  • The HRS can refuel light-duty and heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles at both 350 and 700 bar, contributing to clean mobility in the region and along national and European mobility corridors.
  • The Avant-Première event showcased live refuelling demonstrations on Hyundai and Phinia vehicles, attracting over 60 participants and demonstrating high interest in the deployment of diverse hydrogen applications.
  • The COSMHYC DEMO project, funded by the EU's Clean Hydrogen Partnership, aims to demonstrate innovative hydrogen compression technology to improve the hydrogen refuelling process efficiency and reduce costs in the region.
The COSMHYC DEMO consortium and the 'Touraine Vallée de l'Indre' community of municipalities organized an Avant-Première event to introduce the new hydrogen refuelling station built under the EU-funded COSMHYC DEMO project to regional stakeholders. The station, built by Cavendish Hydrogen, is now operational and serves as a crucial step towards advancing clean hydrogen mobility in France. Positioned just off motorway A10, a vital corridor linking Paris to Bordeaux, the station will play a significant role in connecting major cities and promoting hydrogen mobility across Europe. The HRS is designed to cater to light-duty utility vehicles, passenger cars, trucks, and refuse collection vehicles, showcasing the versatility of hydrogen as a clean energy source. The event demonstrated the refuelling process on various vehicles, highlighting the potential for hydrogen applications in different sectors. The station's inauguration event will further introduce the equipment to end-users and the public, fostering greater awareness and adoption of hydrogen technologies. The COSMHYC DEMO project, coordinated by the European Institute For Energy Research, aims to demonstrate the maturity of innovative hydrogen compression technology through this HRS installation. With a budget of 3.7 million euros and the collaboration of six consortium partners, including EIFHYTEC and MAHYTEC, the project focuses on enhancing compression efficiency to drive the success of hydrogen mobility. This initiative sets an example for implementing practical projects for reducing CO2 emissions and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
