Metrans, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), is leading the way in climate-neutral container transport by testing Slovakia's first hydrogen-powered truck. In collaboration with Slovak technology company Mobility & Innovation Production s.r.o. (MIP), Metrans unveiled the innovative truck at Slovakia Ring, showcasing its competitive edge with a 600km range. The hydrogen truck, built on the Ford F-Max platform and featuring a 117 kW REFIRE fuel cell, is a technical marvel in compliance with European weight standards. Metrans' commitment to decarbonisation is evident through its deployment of e-trucks, electric and hybrid locomotives, and electric container gantry cranes. The addition of the hydrogen truck further solidifies its eco-friendly portfolio, aiming to provide customers with fully climate-friendly transport solutions. By seamlessly integrating rail and road transport, Metrans reduces emissions and enhances service value. HHLA, the parent company of Metrans, has long been dedicated to decarbonisation, setting ambitious climate goals for full neutrality by 2040. With the operation of electric container gantry cranes, AGVs, and now hydrogen trucks, HHLA is setting a strong example in sustainable logistics.
