The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has appointed Debmalya Sen as its new President, effective immediately. Sen, with a background in renewable energy and green hydrogen, is tasked with leading the organization's efforts to accelerate clean energy adoption across India. Having previously worked with the World Economic Forum on energy transition and policy frameworks, Sen's experience positions him well to drive innovation, policy support, and industry collaboration within IESA. The organization, representing 180+ clean energy companies, focuses on key initiatives such as battery supply chains, electric mobility, green hydrogen, and battery recycling to support India's net-zero ambitions. With India's target of installing 500 GW of non-fossil fuel electricity capacity by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, the role of organizations like IESA in navigating the technical and regulatory challenges of the energy transition is seen as vital. By facilitating partnerships and advocating for policies that integrate energy storage with renewable power generation, IESA plays a crucial role in supporting India's climate commitments and addressing the country's growing energy demand while reducing carbon emissions from the power sector.
