Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the launch of the India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership during the second India-Australia Annual Summit in New Delhi. The partnership aims to boost investment in renewable energy projects such as solar PV manufacturing, battery and mineral processing, green hydrogen, and green iron. The two leaders also agreed to enhance their Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, develop a joint maritime security collaboration roadmap, and work towards a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement. The announcement comes as a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Australia. The partnership includes the establishment of the India-Australia Rooftop Solar Academy to train 2,000 young Indian technicians on solar PV, supporting India's initiative to install rooftop solar for 10 million households in the coming years. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Albanese expressed positivity and commitment to deepening ties and promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region through collaboration in various sectors like defence, renewable energy, and economic cooperation. The Renewable Energy Partnership is seen as a milestone that will not only build a future renewable energy workforce but also unlock economic opportunities to support the transition to net zero emissions.
