  • The aim is to enhance the capacity for manufacturing Green Ammonia to cater to the increasing demand and support clean energy transition.
  • The National Green Hydrogen Mission seeks to make India self-reliant in clean energy, reduce fossil fuel imports, and establish market leadership in Green Hydrogen technology.
  • Solar Energy Corporation of India is facilitating the selection of Green Ammonia Producers through a competitive bidding process to boost the production of Green Hydrogen.
The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India has decided to enhance the allocation for the Fertilizer Sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The share of allocation for Green Ammonia has been increased from 5.5 lakh tonnes per annum to 7.5 lakh tonnes per annum to meet the rising demand. This decision follows the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission with the objective of making India self-reliant in clean energy and leading the global Clean Energy Transition. The Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme aims to support domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and Green Hydrogen production. The ministry amended the scheme guidelines to increase the allocation under Mode 2A Scheme for the Fertiliser sector. The Solar Energy Corporation of India has announced a process for selecting Green Ammonia Producers through competitive bidding to further boost production. The mission is expected to drive significant decarbonization, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology.
