India took a significant step towards promoting green hydrogen and its derivatives by initiating a bidding process for green ammonia production. The Solar Energy Corporation of India issued a Request for Selection to choose green ammonia producers for manufacturing in India under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The bidding process, with a capacity of 5.39 lakh Metric Tonnes per annum, will be conducted through competitive e-bidding. This aligns with the Ministry's commitment to clean energy initiatives and self-reliance. Through the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme, India aims to foster a sustainable future by reducing dependence on fossil fuel imports and curbing carbon emissions. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores, signifies a key milestone in India's clean energy journey, aiming to lead the global clean energy transition. By focusing on green hydrogen production and electrolyzer manufacturing, the mission not only supports economic development but also underscores India's dedication to combating climate change and promoting inclusive growth.
