The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has announced an initiative inviting proposals to establish Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for research and development on Green Hydrogen. These CoEs will cover multiple areas in the Green Hydrogen value chain, aiming to foster innovation and sustainability to enhance long-term energy independence. The goal is to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy by advancing technologies related to Green Hydrogen production, storage, and utilization. The CoEs will serve as hubs for cutting-edge research, skill enhancement, and knowledge sharing, promoting collaboration among various stakeholders to drive advancements in Green Hydrogen technologies. The establishment of these centers is part of the larger National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023, with the objective of making India self-reliant in clean energy. The mission, with a significant budget allocation, aims to decarbonize the economy, reduce dependency on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology.
