The Government of India has issued a call for proposals to establish Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for Green Hydrogen under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The objective is to promote innovation and sustainability by fostering cutting-edge research and advancements in Green Hydrogen production, storage, and utilization technologies. These CoEs will serve as hubs for knowledge dissemination, skill development, and collaboration among stakeholders to drive innovations in the field. With an allocation of Rs 100 crores, the government aims to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy and enhance energy independence in the long term. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023 with a significant budget of Rs. 19,744 crores until FY 2029-30, aims to make India self-reliant through clean energy. By focusing on decarbonization, reducing dependence on fossil fuel imports, and positioning India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology, the mission seeks to drive economic and environmental benefits. Through partnerships between public and private entities, research institutions, and universities, the mission aims to leverage expertise and resources to advance the Green Hydrogen ecosystem in the country. The initiative is expected to contribute to India's clean energy goals and inspire global Clean Energy transitions.
