NTPC Green Energy and Honeywell UOP India Join Forces for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production
Key Ideas
  • NTPC Green Energy Limited and Honeywell UOP India signed an MoU to explore Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production, focusing on green hydrogen and CO₂ utilization.
  • The partnership will conduct a detailed feasibility study leveraging Honeywell's eFining™ technology, CO₂ from NTPC's power plants, and green hydrogen from NTPC's renewable energy projects.
  • This collaboration is a significant step towards NTPC's Green Hydrogen Hub project in Andhra Pradesh, aiming to create an ecosystem for green chemicals and sustainable production.
  • The joint efforts of NTPC Green and Honeywell UOP are poised to accelerate India's energy transition by promoting the use of low-carbon fuels in the aviation sector.
NTPC Green Energy Limited and Honeywell UOP India have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The collaboration will involve a detailed feasibility study focusing on SAF production, integrating Honeywell's eFining™ technology with carbon dioxide (CO₂) captured from NTPC's power plants and green hydrogen generated through NTPC's renewable energy initiatives. This initiative is a key pillar in NTPC's Green Hydrogen Hub project located in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh, spanning 1,200 acres. The Green Hydrogen Hub is envisioned to serve as an integrated ecosystem for green chemicals and sustainable manufacturing. The partnership between NGEL and Honeywell UOP signifies a strategic alignment in SAF technologies and renewable hydrogen projects. By combining their expertise, the two entities aim to drive the adoption of low-carbon fuels in the aviation industry, thereby making a substantial contribution to India's energy transition objectives. The collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable aviation practices and promoting eco-friendly initiatives within the country's energy sector.
