Indonesia's state-owned power company, PT PLN (Persero), has initiated the Connext Powered by PLN program to drive sustainable energy innovation in collaboration with startups across Asia. This program supports PLN's transformation towards becoming a more adaptive and innovative energy company, aiming for net zero emissions. To kick off this initiative, representatives from PLN visited Japan, known for its ambitious startup development plan and leadership in energy-related innovation, including areas like hydrogen and fuel cells, e-Mobility, and solar energy. During the visit, the PLN delegation engaged with various startups involved in renewable technology, hydrogen and ammonia power generation, AI, and semiconductor industries. The collaboration with Creww, Japan's open innovation platform, through an MoU marked a significant international milestone for PLN, connecting them to a vast network of startups and accelerator programs. This partnership sets the stage for future collaborations with startups in the region. PLN's President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, emphasized that this initiative aims to build an innovation-rich ecosystem, providing opportunities for green energy startups while driving economic growth and preserving the environment. Launched in 2023, the Connext program in Indonesia focuses on fostering innovation in renewable energy and plans to expand its reach in the Asia-Pacific region, reinforcing PLN's commitment to sustainable energy practices.
