In a groundbreaking initiative towards India's net-zero emissions goal by 2070, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Joshi flagged off the first trials of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks by Tata Motors in New Delhi. The ministers emphasized the potential of hydrogen in revolutionizing the transportation sector and reducing emissions. Tata Motors, through the trial funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aims to assess the commercial viability of hydrogen vehicles for long-distance haulage. This trial, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, will span 24 months, deploying 16 advanced hydrogen-powered trucks on major freight routes like Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi-NCR. Tata Motors' Executive Director highlighted the company's commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation in partnership with the government's vision for a greener future. The launch signifies a significant step towards sustainable long-distance cargo transportation and aligns with India's green energy objectives.
