Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce trucks powered by hydrogen internal combustion engines on a trial basis within the upcoming quarter. This initiative is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, where Tata Motors, in collaboration with IOCL, will deploy these trucks on three specific routes for a duration of 18 months. At the recent Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Tata Motors unveiled a hydrogen-powered truck, showcasing its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. Executive Director Girish Wagh highlighted the company's preparedness to embrace both hydrogen internal combustion engines and fuel cell electric vehicles. The project aims to collect valuable data that will be utilized to enhance the product and build necessary infrastructure for hydrogen fuelling. Furthermore, Tata Motors is on track for the commercial launch of hydrogen fuel vehicles in the next 12 to 24 months, emphasizing sustainability and value proposition. Wagh expressed optimism about the government's support for electrification and sustainability, expecting positive outcomes for the commercial vehicles market. This move represents a significant step towards a sustainable future in the commercial vehicles sector.
