ENOC Group and RTA Partner to Drive Green Hydrogen Mobility in Dubai
Key Ideas
  • ENOC Group and RTA signed an agreement to explore green hydrogen-powered mobility solutions in Dubai, supporting the UAE's green hydrogen economy.
  • The partnership involves supplying green hydrogen to RTA's city buses, conducting a feasibility study on hydrogen mobility, and promoting sustainable public transportation.
  • The initiative builds on existing collaborations and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels in Dubai's transport sector.
  • Green hydrogen station at Expo City Dubai, sourced from a solar park, can refuel up to 25 fuel cell electric vehicles with zero CO2 emissions in approximately seven minutes.
ENOC Group and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have taken a significant step towards advancing the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 by signing an agreement to explore green hydrogen-powered mobility solutions in Dubai. The collaboration aims to support the UAE’s green hydrogen economy and enhance sustainable public transportation in the emirate. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at ENOC Group Headquarters involves ENOC Group supplying green hydrogen to RTA’s hydrogen-powered city buses and providing technical support for a feasibility study on hydrogen mobility. The partnership highlights the commitment to sustainability, with green hydrogen seen as a compelling alternative to traditional energy sources. The agreement is expected to contribute to achieving the UAE's green economy goals by using green hydrogen in RTA's public buses and marine transport, reinforcing sustainability in the transportation sector. ENOC's existing partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is crucial in this initiative, with the commissioning of a green hydrogen station at Expo City Dubai during COP28, sourcing green hydrogen from a solar park operated by DEWA. The station, located at ENOC’s Service Station of the Future at Expo City, can refuel up to 25 fuel cell electric vehicles with zero CO2 emissions in approximately seven minutes. Green hydrogen, produced via electrolysis using renewable energy, offers an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels, aiming to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable energy solutions in Dubai’s public transport sector.
