TR Group has finalized new purchase agreements to introduce hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks (FCEVs) to New Zealand, following the termination of its previous deal with Hyzon Motors. The updated fleet plans include a total of 20 hydrogen trucks, with the first deliveries expected early in the year. The new suppliers, Hyundai New Zealand and Christchurch-based Global Bus Ventures (GBV), will provide rigid and tractor units to TR Group. The collaboration aims to enhance local expertise and job opportunities in the hydrogen technology sector, supported by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and the Government. GBV, experienced in hydrogen fuel cell technology, will deliver trucks with specifications similar to the original Hyzon deal. The hydrogen fuel will be charged to customers on a usage basis, with plans to reduce costs as the refueling network expands. TR Group is also innovating with dual-fuel trucks, in partnership with CH2NGE Fuel Technologies, offering a flexible solution for reducing carbon emissions. Additionally, the company has added battery electric trucks to its fleet for short-term rentals, expanding sustainable transportation options. The introduction of hydrogen trucks, dual-fuel trucks, and battery electric trucks signifies TR Group's commitment to advancing environmentally friendly solutions in the transportation industry.
