SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company (SABIC AN) is making significant strides towards establishing a new low-carbon ammonia plant in Jubail Industrial City. The CEO, Fahad Al-Battar, announced plans to produce 1.2 million metric tonnes per annum of low-carbon ammonia in addition to 1.1 MMTA of urea and specialized agri-nutrients annually as part of the company's sustainability initiatives. The project has received approval from the Energy Ministry for feedstock allocation, further propelling it towards the Final Investment Decision. Previously, in May 2023, SABIC AN marked its entry into the market by exporting low-carbon ammonia to India. Notably, the collaboration between Saudi Aramco and SABIC Agri-Nutrients led to obtaining the world's first independent certifications for 'blue' hydrogen and ammonia production in August 2022, highlighting a commitment to innovative and environmentally friendly practices.
