VINSSEN, a specialist in maritime decarbonization technology with a focus on hydrogen fuel cells, has achieved the Approval in Principle (AIP) certification from the Korean Register for Korea's first tugboat featuring a hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system. This milestone was made possible through a joint-research project with KRE, known for its expertise in ship design and maritime engineering. The 2,700 kW hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric tugboat utilizes hydrogen fuel and stores excess electricity in batteries for efficient low-load operations, ensuring energy preparedness for future demand. During high-demand situations, the battery supplements the fuel cell for stable propulsion. VINSSEN's system optimizes hydrogen energy use based on the tugboat's operational needs, complying with environmental regulations and offering high performance in challenging marine conditions. By integrating battery energy storage, VINSSEN's eco-friendly propulsion system provides a comprehensive green solution, contributing significantly to the decarbonization of the maritime industry. Additionally, VINSSEN's participation in Sea Asia 2025 aims to showcase its eco-friendly vessels and propulsion systems, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the global maritime sector.
