Adani Energy Solutions Wins Transmission Project for Green Hydrogen Facility in Gujarat
Key Ideas
- Adani Energy Solutions secures a Rs2,800 Cr transmission project to power a green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
- The project includes upgrading a substation, adding new transformers and building a transmission line to connect to another substation.
- India aims to produce five million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, with significant government support through subsidy payments and funding allocation.
- The project will bolster India's green hydrogen production capacity and contribute to the country's Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme.
Adani Energy Solutions, an electric power company in India, has been awarded a Rs2,800 Cr transmission project to enable the operation of a green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The project, set to be completed within three years, will provide the necessary green electrons for the production of these sustainable gases in Mundra. It involves enhancing the Navinal electrical substation by installing two large 765/400kV transformers and constructing a 75km 765kV double-circuit line to link it to the Bhuj substation, contributing 150 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company's infrastructure. India has set a target of achieving five million tonnes of green hydrogen production annually by 2030, with recent government initiatives awarding subsidy payments to nine companies, including AM Green Ammonia and Waaree Clean Energy Solutions. A substantial allocation of ₹22.39bn crores has been designated to support the production of 450,000 tonnes per year of green hydrogen under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme. This project signifies a significant step towards enhancing India's green hydrogen capabilities and aligns with the country's ambitions for a sustainable energy transition.
