The NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), under the Indian energy company NTPC, has embarked on the development of a significant green energy complex in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. This project, known as the NTPC Green Hydrogen Hub Project, will focus on renewable capacity to produce hydrogen, with an ambitious goal of generating 1,500 tons per day of green hydrogen and 7,500 tons per day of derivative products like methanol, urea, and sustainable aviation fuel for export markets. The Indian Government is set to lay the foundation stone for this project. India's strategic vision for green energy includes plans to produce 5 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030, positioning the country as a key player in the global hydrogen market. The National Green Hydrogen Mission introduced in 2023 outlines targets for green hydrogen consumption in specific industries and creates a framework to support the domestic manufacturing of electrolysers through the SIGHT program. This initiative signifies a significant step towards achieving India's goals of sustainability and energy independence.
