The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has revealed the results of its recent auction to select green hydrogen producers in India under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Program, Mode-1-Tranche-II. The auction has allocated a total annual production capacity of 450,000 metric tons, with a maximum incentive of ₹2,238.599 crores. In Bucket 1, companies like Oriana Power, L&T Energy Green, and Reliance Green Hydrogen, among others, have been awarded 448,500 metric tons of production capacity, sharing an incentive of ₹2,220.749 crores. The auction allowed bidders to choose between technology-agnostic or biomass-based pathways to encourage the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Successful bidders are mandated to establish their production facilities within 36 months from the date of receiving the award letter. The flexibility was given to bidders to select project locations and make changes if necessary during the construction phase, aiming to drive green hydrogen production at scale and reduce costs.
