- Initiative aligns with European Commission's approval of IPCEI Hy2Tech program for sustainable hydrogen development.
Ansaldo Energia, a power engineering firm, has received €317m from the Italian Government to advance green hydrogen production through the development of 1MW AEM electrolyser systems. This funding, part of the €5.4bn IPCEI Hy2Tech scheme, aims to help Ansaldo Green Tech in Genova establish a new AEM production line and expand its R&D capabilities. The company plans to create 1MW modular systems in containerized and open design formats, capable of producing over 500kg of hydrogen daily. Ansaldo highlights that its systems offer high efficiency, flexibility, and pressurized hydrogen output while minimizing the use of critical minerals. This initiative is in line with the European Commission's endorsement of the IPCEI Hy2Tech program, demonstrating a positive step towards sustainable hydrogen technologies.
