The Indian government has launched five pilot projects as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission to introduce hydrogen-powered buses and trucks in the country. This initiative involves deploying 37 hydrogen-powered vehicles, including fuel-cell vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles, on 10 different routes across India. Major companies such as Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, NTPC, and Ashok Leyland are actively participating in these projects. To support the operation of these vehicles, nine hydrogen refuelling stations will be set up in strategic locations. The government has allocated ₹208 crore to support these projects, which are expected to be completed within the next 18-24 months. The aim of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, with a budget of ₹19,744 crore, is to promote clean energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and position India as a leader in hydrogen technology. This initiative marks a significant step towards making India's transport sector more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
