The Western Australian Government has established the Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence (CESNCE) and appointed an Industry Advisory Board to spearhead its operations. This initiative, backed by a $70.5 million joint investment from the Federal and State Governments, aims to enhance the workforce's skills to support the shift towards a clean energy economy. The Board comprises ten members from diverse backgrounds, including industry, unions, First Nations people, and government representatives. The CESNCE's strategic direction will be guided by the Board to ensure effective workforce planning, training infrastructure development, and coordination for the state's transition to a net-zero emissions economy. Industry expert Matthew Cheney has been appointed as the Chair of the Board, bringing valuable experience in energy, sustainability, and decarbonisation. The CESNCE, in collaboration with stakeholders, will focus on skills development, training product design, and creating career opportunities in the thriving clean energy sector. With a significant investment in TAFE infrastructure and support from both levels of government, the CESNCE is poised to deliver top-notch training in clean energy technologies. The initiative aims to equip students with practical skills and partner with industry to foster innovation in the clean energy domain. The launch of the CESNCE website will serve as a platform to showcase the state's clean energy projects, career options, and training programs. The development of skilled workers through the Centre is seen as pivotal in positioning Western Australia as a leading player in the clean energy industry.
