Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and KPIT Technologies joined forces by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Global Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Summit in Kochi, India. The collaboration aims to enhance hydrogen-based mobility in Kerala as part of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission. This initiative includes establishing Hydrogen Refuelling Stations in Kochi and Trivandrum to facilitate hydrogen-powered transport between the cities, providing a sustainable alternative for public mobility. The project integrates locally developed technologies, such as using a domestic alkaline electrolyser for hydrogen production by BPCL and a fuel cell-powered bus designed in India by KPIT Technologies. A key highlight was the reveal of Kerala's first hydrogen-powered bus to government officials, marking a significant milestone in promoting hydrogen-based public transportation in the state.
