A gas pipe upgrade project is set to commence in Truro's Kenwyn Street area starting on January 2. The initiative, costing £130,000 and managed by Wales & West Utilities, aims to ensure the safe and uninterrupted supply of gas to homes and businesses in the region. This project is deemed essential to maintain the heating and power needs of the local community. The upgrade includes multiple stages of road closures, with the project expected to conclude by May, barring any unforeseen engineering challenges. Road closures will be implemented in various phases, affecting different sections of Kenwyn Street, Little Castle Street, City Road, Bosvigo Road, Calenick Street, River Street, and Victoria Square on specific dates. The project was preceded by a community drop-in session in October, where locals had the opportunity to examine the plans and interact with project team members, including Abby Smith. Abby emphasized the project's significance in ensuring continuous gas supply and preparing the gas network for the future transportation of hydrogen and biomethane to promote environmental sustainability. The project team reassured the public that safety and efficiency are paramount during the execution, with a dedicated gas engineer team on-site.
