Ulsan, one of the special and metropolitan cities in South Korea, is making strides in the realm of urban transportation with the announcement of the first hydrogen tram-type urban railway project. The city plans to kick off construction next year with a target opening in 2028, following approval from the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The initiative, with a total project cost of 381.4 billion won, will see 60% of the expenses covered by national funds, showcasing a significant commitment to sustainable urban development. The Ulsan Urban Railroad Line 1 spans 10.9km from Taehwagang Station to Sinbok Intersection, incorporating 15 stations along the route.
