Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has successfully secured AUD 814 million funding through the Australian Government’s Hydrogen Headstart program for the Murchison Green Hydrogen project in Western Australia. This project, located 20km north of Kalbarri in the Mid West region, is positioned as one of the world’s most advanced commercial-scale green hydrogen and ammonia initiatives. With a focus on producing approximately 1.8 million tonnes of green ammonia annually for export to Asian markets, the Murchison Green Hydrogen project is a significant step towards advancing Australia's green hydrogen economy. Powered by 6GW of onshore wind and solar generation, the project is set to play a crucial role in achieving energy independence and decarbonization goals. Karsten Uhd Plauborg, a Partner at CIP, expressed gratitude for the funding, emphasizing the vision shared with the Australian Government to establish a leading green hydrogen industry in Australia.
