The German government has approved a substantial funding of 72.5 million Euro for the Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube project undertaken by Hydrogenious LOHC Infra Bavaria, with a notable support of 70% from the federal government and 30% from the state of Bavaria. This initiative, designated as an Important Project of Common European Interest by the European Commission, focuses on establishing a reliable and sustainable hydrogen supply for industries in Central Europe. Hydrogenious LOHC Infra Bavaria, a subsidiary of Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, will implement the LOHC technology to transport industrially significant amounts of green hydrogen to the Bavarian industrial sector in the Danube region. The innovative liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) technology enables the safe and efficient transportation of hydrogen through existing liquid fuel infrastructure, facilitating the supply of high-purity hydrogen for industrial, power generation, and mobility applications. The project aims to leverage the LOHC ReleasePLANT from 2028 to deliver 1,800 tons of green hydrogen to off-takers in Southern Germany. Additionally, the hydrogen can be integrated into pipeline networks like HyPipe Bavaria, expanding connectivity to the German Hydrogen Core Network and the European Hydrogen Backbone, thereby enhancing the resilience of the energy system. Dr. Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, emphasized the importance of hydrogen projects in driving the energy transition towards a climate-neutral and sustainable economy. He highlighted the critical role of hydrogen infrastructure, especially pipelines, in facilitating industry decarbonization and enabling climate-friendly growth.
