Green Navy, a maritime transport designer in Finistère, France, and a subsidiary of the Vallair Group, has received a €1.5 million subsidy from the Brittany Region for its hydrogen-powered passenger shuttle project, Prometeo. The initiative aligns with the region's roadmap for renewable hydrogen deployment. The Prometeo project involves a zero-emission twin-hull catamaran designed for coastal passenger transport. Equipped with an electro-hydrogen propulsion system developed in collaboration with SECO Marine, the catamaran operates with high-efficiency electric motors drawing energy from buffer storage batteries and hydrogen stored onboard. The combination of hydrogen and oxygen within fuel cells produces electricity, offering CO2-free navigation, noiseless operation, longer range, and reduced docking times. Green Navy plans to test the Prometeo catamaran in real-world conditions to obtain certification and provide valuable feedback for other hydrogen-fuel project developers in the region. The company aims to offer the vessel as a bare-boat charter solution and potentially sell it to shipowners or public authorities for various maritime transport needs. Green Navy will showcase the Prometeo project at the Hyvolution trade show in Paris, providing operators with more insights into this innovative initiative.
