Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for NTPC Green Energy Limited's Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam on January 8. This initiative marks a significant milestone under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, requiring an investment of ₹1,85,000 crore. The hub will house 20 GW of renewable energy capacity and is designed to produce 1500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen, along with 7500 tonnes per day of green derivatives like methanol, urea, and sustainable aviation fuel, with a focus on export markets. Spanning 1,600 acres, the facility will host various components including a manufacturing unit, green chemical zone, storage terminal, port infrastructure, and desalination and effluent treatment plants. With an estimated completion date of 2032, the project is projected to generate more than 57,000 jobs and contribute significantly to India's ambition of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. Additionally, it aims to drive decarbonisation efforts in key sectors, aligning with the country's Net Zero goals. The project is expected to enhance India's energy independence and position Andhra Pradesh as a prominent player in the global green energy landscape, further solidifying the nation's commitment to sustainable solutions.
