Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) Green Hydrogen Hub project in Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This project, with an investment of approximately ₹1,85,000 crore, aims to become one of India's largest integrated green hydrogen production facilities. It plans to establish 20 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, producing 1,500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen and 7,500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen derivatives such as green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel. The project, spread across 1,600 acres, will house various infrastructure components like manufacturing facilities, chemical zones, transmission corridors, desalination plants, and more, to be completed by 2032. With the creation of over 57,000 job opportunities, this initiative will boost the local economy and propel Andhra Pradesh as a significant player in the global green energy sector. Furthermore, it will aid India in achieving its non-fossil energy capacity target of 500 GW by 2030, supporting the nation's energy independence and decarbonisation endeavors. This project also aligns with India's Net Zero goals, showcasing the country's commitment to sustainable development and climate action.
