HORIBA India has unveiled its first Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2-ICE) Test Bed Facility in Pune, India, at its technical center in Chakan. This facility, part of the Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat programs, underscores a dedicated move towards advancing hydrogen-based energy solutions in the country. With an investment of about INR 28–30 crore, the facility will focus on testing hydrogen-powered engines with capacities of up to 380 kilowatts, showcasing cutting-edge hydrogen-based technologies. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of key officials from HORIBA, emphasizing the company's dedication to fostering sustainability and innovation in the renewable energy sector. The facility features state-of-the-art equipment like the Hydrogen Gas Analyzer (HyEVO), Hydrogen Fuel Flow Meter (HyFQ-2000 Series), and Laser Spectroscopic Motor Exhaust Gas Analyzer (MEXA-ONE-XL-NX), aligned with global safety and compliance standards. Dr. George Gillespie and Dr. Rajeev Gautam highlighted the significance of this facility in supporting India's ambition for net-zero emissions by 2070 and HORIBA's goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 42 percent by 2033.
