Hydri has selected cross-laminated timber (CLT) from Södra to build new hydrogen fueling stations in various locations in Sweden, including Värnamo, Hallandsåsen, and Ödeshög. These stations are part of a national initiative to enable the refueling of trucks, buses, and cars with fossil-free hydrogen fuel at around 30 sites throughout the country. The collaboration between Hydri and Södra aims to accelerate the shift towards renewable solutions on a commercial scale. The CEO of Hydri, Peter Enå, expressed optimism about infrastructure development for renewable fuels, emphasizing the essential role of hydrogen in this transition. Södra's CLT, a locally produced material, offers numerous advantages such as lightweight construction, quick installation, and ongoing carbon storage, contributing to reduced environmental impact. Ola Landqvist from Södra highlighted the significance of partnerships fostering green transitions, aligning with the company's goal of halving fossil emissions by 2030. The Hydri project, co-financed with the Swedish climate investment program, Klimatklivet, is geared towards ushering industries and communities into a carbon-free future by addressing the entire value chain. Södra's integration of CLT production with its existing operations reflects a commitment to resource efficiency and sustainable practices, utilizing forests responsibly to create climate-smart products.
