Australia-Singapore Initiative on Low Emissions Technologies in Maritime Sector
Key Ideas
- Eight projects funded under the ASLET initiative aim to accelerate the deployment of zero or near-zero emission technologies in maritime and port operations.
- Projects include innovations in hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, safety, environmental monitoring, and electrification.
- Objectives include reducing costs, improving readiness, increasing industry investment, reducing emissions, and strengthening industry connections between Australia and Singapore.
- ASLET grants contribute to bilateral economic benefits while striving towards a net-zero emissions future in maritime operations.
Australia and Singapore have jointly selected eight projects as part of the $20 million Australia-Singapore Initiative on Low Emissions Technologies (ASLET) to reduce emissions in the maritime sector. This initiative, supporting the Green and Digital Shipping Corridor, aims to accelerate decarbonization and digitization of shipping routes between the two countries. The selected projects will focus on accelerating the deployment of zero or near-zero greenhouse gas emission technologies, including hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol, as well as enhancing safety, environmental monitoring, and electrification in maritime operations. The initiative targets reduced costs, improved technical readiness, increased industry investment, reduced emissions, and strengthened industry connections. ASLET grants will contribute to bilateral economic benefits while working towards a net-zero emissions future in maritime and port operations.
