Norwegian ferry operator Torghatten Nord has taken a significant step towards emission-free transportation by partnering with MAN Cryo to design hydrogen supply systems for two new ro-pax ferries. The collaboration aims to revolutionize ferry transportation with vessels powered by green hydrogen, aligning with a Norwegian government initiative for major vessels to operate emission-free. MAN Cryo, a provider of system design and engineering solutions for liquefied gases, will oversee the design of bunkering systems, hydrogen piping, and vent masts for the ferries. With a strong focus on advanced engineering and seamless integration capabilities, the project sets new standards in sustainable marine operations. The vessels, designed by The Norwegian Ship Design Company and constructed with hulls from Cemre shipyard in Turkey, are scheduled for outfitting at Myklebust shipyard in Norway. All hydrogen equipment will be installed in Norway, emphasizing the commitment to local production.
