Martin Uher Bus, a private transport company in the Czech Republic, has selected Solaris Bus & Coach to supply the first hydrogen buses for its fleet. The partnership will see the introduction of 10 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses in the Central Bohemian region around Prague by the end of 2025. These hydrogen vehicles will operate in hilly areas near Mníšek pod Brdy, powered by state-of-the-art fuel cells with a total power of 70 kW. The buses will be refueled with green hydrogen produced from renewable sources, specifically sourced from the Vrané nad Vltavou hydroelectric power plant. This eco-friendly method ensures that the hydrogen used is completely climate-neutral, emitting only heat and steam during operation. The move towards hydrogen buses marks a significant shift towards emission-free transportation in the region, complementing existing electric bus initiatives. The Central Bohemian region is at the forefront of testing new transport technologies, aiming to transition to entirely emission-free transport in the future. This pilot project not only showcases the region's commitment to sustainability but also highlights the benefits of hydrogen buses, such as quick refueling times and emission-free operation. With Solaris's track record of delivering eco-friendly buses to various Czech cities, this collaboration represents a milestone in promoting green public transportation and advancing the use of hydrogen technology.
