Munich Airport (MUC) has placed an order for 49 all-electric MAN Lion’s City E buses as part of its sustainability initiative to eliminate CO2 emissions by 2035. The initial delivery consists of 10 buses to be used by AeroGround, the airport’s ground handling subsidiary, with the remaining buses, including 12- and 18-meter models, expected by the end of the year. MAN is also supplying a comprehensive charging solution to facilitate the transition to electric mobility. The electric buses will serve to transport passengers and crews on the airport apron, with larger articulated buses catering to routes with higher passenger volumes.
The MAN Lion’s City E buses feature a new electronics platform, advanced safety systems, and a range of up to 350 kilometers per charge. Munich Airport plans to install 40 charging stations in collaboration with SBRS and MAN Transport Solutions. Robert Katzer from MAN Truck & Bus expressed satisfaction with Munich Airport's choice, emphasizing the effectiveness of eBuses in various operational contexts. This investment underscores the airport's commitment to sustainable practices and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
