Wrightbus, a Northern Irish company, made waves in the commercial vehicle industry with the launch of the Streetdeck Hydroliner, the first double-decker bus featuring a hydrogen fuel cell in 2020. Fast forward to the present, the company has unveiled the Streetdeck Hydroliner Gen 2.0, a revamped version with impressive upgrades. This new model, developed over four years, promises a range of over 300 miles and an efficient refuelling time of just eight minutes. The Streetdeck Hydroliner Gen 2.0 stands out for its enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness. With a 20% reduction in fuel costs and 30% lower maintenance expenses over 15 years, operators can benefit from increased revenue potential due to a 5% rise in passenger capacity. Moreover, the model offers improved safety features and reduced component costs, making maintenance easier and quicker. In line with their sustainability goals, Wrightbus aims to boost production at its Ballymena factory, projecting a significant increase in manufacturing volumes by 2026. This expansion plan is not only about scaling up production but also about creating new job opportunities. By 2026, Wrightbus plans to have 2,500 employees and support up to 7,200 supply chain jobs, showcasing their commitment to economic growth and environmental responsibility. Besides the Streetdeck Hydroliner, Wrightbus also offers other environmentally friendly options such as the Streetdeck Electroliner and the GB Kite solo buses. These initiatives underline the company's dedication to providing innovative and sustainable transportation solutions for a greener future.
