The programme aligns with the department's strategy of using science diplomacy to promote human solidarity and social justice. Additionally, the Minister discussed the country's achievements in science and innovation, such as the Vaccine Manufacturing Strategy to develop vaccines for various diseases. The focus on the hydrogen economy was emphasized, with investments to promote green hydrogen as an alternative energy source. The government also supported women-led enterprises in the hydrogen sector and provided technology development aid to black emerging farmers. Other notable initiatives include the establishment of a national solar research facility, advancements in the field of astronomy with projects like the Square Kilometre Array, and support for agro-processing and farmer development. The department aims to sustain existing industries, develop new growth sectors, and enhance conditions in marginalized communities using science, technology, and innovation. Efforts are also underway to establish an Earth Observation Data Centre and increase research and development expenditure to impact lives positively. The Minister's budget presentation reflects a commitment to transforming the National System of Innovation and leveraging science, technology, and innovation for societal transformation.
