Indonesia's state-owned power company, PT PLN (Persero), is spearheading the Connext Powered by PLN program to accelerate sustainable energy innovation. The initiative aims to support PLN's transformation into a more adaptive and innovative energy company, with a focus on achieving net zero emissions. By collaborating with startups across Asia, PLN seeks to strengthen its position in the region's startup ecosystem and drive growth through sustainable energy solutions. To kickstart this endeavor, PLN delegates visited Japan to benchmark the country's ambitious Startup Development Five-Year Plan, which prioritizes the creation of unicorn companies, startups, and attracting significant investments. Japan's leadership in energy-related innovation, particularly in areas like hydrogen, e-Mobility, and energy storage, aligns well with PLN's goals. During the visit, PLN engaged with Japanese startups specializing in renewable technology, hydrogen, ammonia power generation, and AI to explore collaborations for clean energy transition in Indonesia. A key outcome of the visit was the signing of an MoU with Creww, Japan's open innovation platform, opening doors for collaboration with thousands of startups and accelerator programs. PLN's President Director emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative in fostering innovation and economic growth while contributing to environmental sustainability. Since its launch in 2023, the Connext program has connected energy startups in Indonesia, and PLN plans to expand its reach across the region to further advance sustainable energy solutions. This initiative reflects PLN's commitment to driving innovation, economic development, and environmental preservation through sustainable energy practices.
