The Spanish Hydrogen Valley Alliance was established during the II National Congress of Green Hydrogen in Huelva, where sixteen hydrogen valleys from across Spain came together to sign their membership. The goal of this alliance is to promote the renewable hydrogen value chain and position Spain as a key player in the European green hydrogen economy. The event was attended by representatives of these valleys, along with government officials including the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Andalusian Government, the Secretary of State for Energy, and the Mayor of Huelva. The Alliance aims to collaborate on developing local ecosystems around the hydrogen economy, sharing best practices, initiating collaborative projects, and enhancing dialogue with Spanish and European institutions. With over 600 entities involved in around 333 projects, the Alliance plans to produce almost 900,000 tonnes/year of hydrogen and reduce over 11 million tonnes/year of CO2 emissions, contributing significantly to the country's energy transition. Renewable hydrogen is seen as a crucial energy vector for achieving Europe's climate neutrality goals by 2050. Spain's industrial sector is well-equipped to support the development of green hydrogen and leverage it for industrial, economic, social, and technological advancements.
