Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is making significant strides towards sustainable energy by gearing up to commission a green hydrogen plant in Panipat, Haryana. The Chairman of IOC, Arvinder Singh Sahney, revealed the substantial progress on the project, which is set to have a production capacity of 10,000 tons per annum. The green hydrogen plant is expected to be operational within the next two years, marking a pivotal contribution to India's green energy mission. Additionally, IOC is focusing on the city gas distribution (CGD) sector, aiming to expand its infrastructure, increase connections, and establish more CNG stations to enhance piped natural gas (PNG) supply. The corporation's efforts in the CGD sector are geared towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy distribution network. Despite global geopolitical tensions and potential impacts from American sanctions on Russia, IOC remains resilient. The Chairman highlighted that India has diverse energy sources to meet its needs, minimizing the potential impact of external factors on the country's energy security. The project has received excellent bids, and the tender evaluation process is underway. The corporation is optimistic about awarding the job soon, leading to the operationalization of the green hydrogen plant, which is a significant step towards achieving a sustainable, carbon-neutral future.
