Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, inaugurated NTPC's Green Hydrogen Mobility Project in Leh, India. The project features a 1.7 MW solar plant, an 80 kg/day capacity hydrogen filling station, and 5 hydrogen intra-city buses. These buses, capable of covering 300 km per filling, operate at 3650m MSL, making it the highest altitude Green Hydrogen Mobility Project globally. The initiative aims to reduce around 350 MT/year of carbon emissions and provide 230 MT/year of oxygen, equivalent to planting 13,000 trees annually. Leveraging Ladakh's high solar irradiance and low temperature conditions, the project promotes green hydrogen as an efficient energy solution, ensuring self-sufficiency in energy needs. NTPC's efforts align with India's vision of achieving Net Zero by 2070, with plans to expand green hydrogen projects and renewable energy capacity nationwide.
