Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, unveiled plans to position Odisha as a key center for renewable energy and explore opportunities for green hydrogen production. With immense solar potential and a strategic coastline, Odisha is set to witness a surge in floating solar panels and green hydrogen projects. The Minister highlighted forthcoming investments in a 6,000 MW solar manufacturing capacity in Dhenkanal and a 1,000 MW facility in Bhubaneswar. Further, a task force collaboration aims to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, backed by a significant Rs 42 lakh crore investment. Initiatives include hackathons, a new joint center of excellence for R&D, and a focus on Power Purchase Agreements and Renewable Purchase Obligations. The event also saw industry leaders and state representatives convene to strategize the roadmap towards India's renewable energy targets.
